Volume by purpose
- Up to 20 l: a day ride or training session, water and a jacket.
- 20 to 40 l: a longer day or carrying equipment.
- Over 40 l: multi day routes or a full kit.
For riding the pack must not shift or lift the shoulders. For hiking the hip belt decides everything: it moves weight from shoulders to hips. A waterproof cover is worth more than a waterproof fabric on its own.
