When to change a filter
A filter is the cheapest part protecting the most expensive assembly.
- Air filter: off road it needs cleaning or replacing far more often than on road, sometimes after every ride.
- Oil filter: change it with the oil, never less often.
- Fuel filter: follow the interval, and a blocked one shows up as power loss under load.
An oiled foam filter needs the correct filter oil: without it the foam lets dust straight through.
